Key Bridgegate Scandal Figure Plans to Retire from Law Firm He Founded

Former chairman of Port Authority remains subject of federal probe of lane-closing controversy, Hoboken development deal, and alleged conflicts of interest

A key figure in the Bridgegate scandal – and a longtime associate of Gov. Chris Christie – is leaving the high-powered law firm he helped start more than four decades ago.

Former Port Authority Chairman David Samson is the subject of an ongoing federal investigation into the role he played in the George Washington Bridge lane-closing scandal, as well as questions about a Hoboken development deal and alleged conflicts of interest surrounding his time at the Port Authority.

The 75-year old will be retiring from Wolff & Samson later this month, the firm – which is located in West Orange and New York City -- announced in a press release.
