About 16 percent of the New Jersey population is enrolled in Medicare, according to, a project of the Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation. That’s about 1.4 million people, 85 percent of whom are eligible due to their age. The rest of those enrolled in Medicare are disabled.

Of the 1.4 million New Jerseyans on Medicare 15 percent of them have enrolled in a Medicare Advantage managed plan.
