Interactive Maps Offer Glimpse of NJ’s Future as World’s Climate Changes

Website created by Rutgers University team also depicts impact of storm surges and coastal flooding on people and infrastructure


It might be considered a roadmap to the future.

A new website produced by a team at Rutgers University – – maps out the impact of climate change on New Jersey.

Interactive maps let community planners see how see how infrastructure (such as schools and nuclear facilities), population and the environment are vulnerable to storm surges, coastal flooding, and sea level rise. The Rutgers scientists and data specialists who created the new site hope to add inland flooding and local temperature maps within a year.
