The cards may be stacked against them. The wheel of fortune may have stopped spinning. Atlantic City’s luck may be running out.

The storied Jersey Shore resort began the year with 12 casinos. By the end of September, that roster may be down to - eight. Casinos in neighboring states have put a serious dent in Atlantic City’s resources -- revenues have dropped nearly 50 percent since 2006. The remaining hotels and casinos are trying to reinvent themselves and redefine themselves as vacation destinations. But it may be too late.
