Visitors to national parks located in New Jersey spent $153 million in 2012, according to a recent report from the U.S. National Park Service.

That year there were nearly 4.9 million visitors to national parks in New Jersey, which employ 2,275 people.

According to the report, there was an additional economic contribution to the state via the national parks of $201.9 million, since people typically spend money in local communities when they visit. Among the national parks in New Jersey are the Statue of Liberty National Monument, the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, Gateway National Recreation Area, and the Morristown National Historical Park.
