34,751

January 14, 2014

Despite the rocky start for healthcare.gov, the Obamacare website, some 34,751 state residents signed up for coverage between October 1 and December 28, according to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

That's more than one-third of the way to the 96,000 enrollees projected by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services through March 31.

In addition, 71,142 people have been determined to be eligible for New Jersey FamilyCare, the state's Medicaid program, according to the CMS.

Of the state residents who chose marketplace plans, 79 percent are eligible for financial assistance, the same percentage as the national rate.
