In scores of locations around the world, the TED Conference and its independently run TEDx series have become a popular and innovative platform for sharing ideas about science and culture.

Since the first conference in 1990 in California, millions of people have watched and experienced -- both live and online -- presentations that are provocative, insightful, and a trademark 18 minutes or less.

A half-dozen TEDx conferences were held in New Jersey in 2013, and NJ Spotlight over the next few days will provide some of the best presentations.

We start with the TEDxNavesink, and the presentation from Kerri Martin, the founder of an Asbury Park community bike shop and “earn-a-bike” program that has helped build a stronger community in that city.
