Toll hikes along the 140 miles dividing New Jersey from Pennsylvania in the northern part of the state overseen by the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission increased 12.6 percent in 2012.

Commercial traffic along that span increased 1.63 percent since the tolls were put into effect July 2011. Tolls increased 33 percent for passenger vehicles and between 23 percent and 36 percent for commercial vehicles.

The commission manages 20 bridges, seven of which require tolls to cross, those reaching from Montague/Milford to Trenton/Morrisville.
