The average number of paid vacation days per worker in the United States is 10, for those with one year of service; 15 after five years of service; and 17 after 10 years of service, according to the federal Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Small companies tend to have fewer paid days of employment, around eight instead of 10. State and federal government employees have far more paid vacation days than those in the private sector. Generally, government employees have 12 days of vacation after one year and 15 days after five years.
