$451 million

Horticulture is a $451 million industry in the Garden State, and the state Department of Agriculture and the horticulture industry have tried to underscore that success by designating annuals, perennials, ornamental annuals, cut Christmas trees, and firewood, among other products, as "Jersey Grown."

Floriculture sales in New Jersey rose 7 percent in 2010 to $178 million, with bedding and garden plants the largest contributor at $110 million. According to the state Department of Agriculture, New Jersey ranks eighth in nation in terms of the wholesale value of floriculture crops.
