The number of megawatts of new solar energy capacity installed in New Jersey in February slipped to 39, less than half the 84 megawatts built in the previous month. The dropoff may signify a slowing down of the once red-hot solar sector, a trend many solar executives have predicted with the steep drop in prices owners of solar systems earn for the electricity produced by the solar arrays. Both the legislature and the Christie administration are exploring ways to stabilize the sector.
