Spotlight Podcast: Municipal Aid
NJ Spotlight and WHYY NewsWorks take a look at the real trends in municipal aid.
Looked at in the short term, over the past year or two, and state aid to municipalities appears fairly stable. Take a longer view, however, and it becomes apparent that municipal aid over the past five years has fallen an average of 22 percent.
Meanwhile, inflation over that same period stands at roughly nine percent.
In this week's Spotlight Podcast, editor-at-large Colleen O'Dea puts the numbers in perspective with Josh Simeone, editor of WHYY NewsWorks, and also talks about the five cities that saw their aid increase.
