$450.7 billion

It's a nice tidy sum, $450.7 billion, and according to the Department of Labor and Workforce Development, it represents the earned income of all New Jersey residents (at an annual rate for the 4th quarter of 2010). That's a new record high and nearly 3 percent higher than the value in the same quarter a year ago.

New Jersey added 7,500 jobs last month, but it was not enough to prevent an increase in the jobless rate. The number of unemployed in New Jersey rose to 9.2 percent, a slight uptick of 0.1 percent. The state lost 15,800 jobs in January.
