The mean annual wage for the 201,560 management workers in New Jersey in 2009 was $124,800, according to the U.S. Department of Labor Bureau of Labor Statistics. To no one’s surprise, the highest-paid managers were the 1,350 chief executives in the state, with a mean salary of $196,220, followed by the 3,450 managers in the natural sciences at $170,000. Coming up behind them were General and Operations Managers ($157,050), Marketing managers ($141,300) and IT managers ($139,880). Other management positions at or above the mean were in engineering, sales, finance, human resources and public relations, in that order.
