Per capita spending in New Jersey for its higher education system of nine state colleges and universities in 2010 is $230.82, ranking it 37th in the nation. According to Grapevine, which is published by Illinois State University’s Center for the Study of Education Policy, New Jersey’s ranking is even lower when you consider the state’s relative wealth. New Jerseyans spent $4.58 per $1,000 in income on the higher education system, ranking the state 44th in the country when taking personal income into account.
