Register by May 17 if you want to vote in June primary

The primary, on June 7, will decide candidates in November congressional races

Tuesday is the deadline to register to vote in New Jersey’s June primary election. The votes will decide who gets on the ballot for November’s midterm congressional election. Unaffiliated voters can still show up at polling locations on June 7 and cast a ballot, but they will be affiliated with the party they choose.

Nationally, one of the most highly anticipated elections of the primary season is already unfolding Tuesday in Pennsylvania in key races for the Senate and governor. The marquee match-up is the Republican Senate primary, where celebrity Dr. Mehmet Oz has the backing of former President Donald Trump against two other conservative candidates, one of whom was photographed marching to the U.S. Capitol in the Jan. 6 insurrection. Both races are considered a test of the former president’s endorsement power. Elections in Pennsylvania, a swing state, have historically taken the pulse of voter sentiment across the country.
